Water Quality and Community Risk

Where my curiosity for analytics began. Before consumer insights, category strategy, and marketing analytics, there was this project.

*The Question

How do multiple social and environmental factors interact to influence drinking water quality? As a Texas A&M Research Scholar, I explored how poverty, race, and industrial activity intersect to influence drinking water quality across urban communities in the United States. Rather than studying the three variables independently, I examined how they intersected geographically to better understand differences in water quality across U.S. cities. This meant moving beyond simple correlations to understand the broader picture.

*What I Learned

This project changed the way I approach data. It was the first time I realized data could do more than explain what happened. It could uncover patterns, challenge assumptions, and tell a story that wasn't immediately obvious. It taught me that meaningful insights rarely come from looking at one variable in isolation. The most valuable discoveries happen when you're curious enough to ask better questions, explore relationships, and understand the story behind the numbers.

That mindset still shapes every project I take on today, whether I'm studying consumer behavior, evaluating market trends, or building research that helps businesses make better decisions.

* Why I Included This Project

Although this research predates my work in marketing and consumer insights, it represents the beginning of my analytical journey. Looking back, it's where I developed the curiosity and problem-solving mindset that continues to define my work today.
